Monrovia, Liberia – April 2026 – Liberia will host a landmark Seed Sector Investment Roundtable on 30 April 2026 at the Royal Grand Hotel, bringing together government leaders, development partners, financial institutions, and private-sector actors to unlock investments and accelerate agricultural transformation.

The Roundtable is organized in collaboration with the African Development Bank and the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation program, alongside national and international partners committed to strengthening Africa’s food systems.

The event aims to mobilize financial and technical resources to support the implementation of Liberia’s National Seed Roadmap and Investment Plan, a strategic framework designed to improve access to quality seeds, enhance productivity, and strengthen food security.

A Strategic Response to Food System Challenges

Africa’s agricultural systems continue to face growing challenges from climate change, global conflicts, and economic shocks, which disrupt supply chains and access to critical inputs such as seeds and fertilizers.

In response, Liberia is positioning its seed sector as a cornerstone for sustainable agricultural growth by aligning public and private investments with national priorities.

Driving Investment in Priority Value Chains

The Roundtable will spotlight investment opportunities across key value chains identified in Liberia’s National Agriculture Development Plan (2024–2030), including: Rice, Cassava, Maize, Soybean, and Aquaculture.

These sectors are critical to improving food security, nutrition, and rural livelihoods while reducing dependence on imports.

Unlocking Opportunities Through Partnerships

The Roundtable will feature Investment presentations and sector diagnostics, as well as Thematic sessions on financing and partnerships. Business-to-business (B2B) meetings, Public–private partnership (PPP) dialogues, and Commitment sessions to secure financing and technical support.

Participants will include representatives from government ministries, development finance institutions, donor agencies, commercial banks, agribusinesses, research institutions, and farmer organizations.

 

Expected Outcomes

The event is expected to deliver Increased investment in Liberia’s seed systems, strengthened public–private partnerships, expanded access to certified seeds for farmers, Improved agricultural productivity and food security, Enhanced livelihoods, and reduced poverty.

By convening key stakeholders and aligning investments, the Liberia Seed Sector Investment Roundtable represents a critical step toward building a resilient, market-driven agricultural sector.
