Sierra Leone’s Head of Anti-Corruption Commission Pays A Courtesy Visit to PPCC

On December 6, 2021, the head of Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission, Francis Ben Kaifala, paid a courtesy visit to the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission and met with the Chief Executive Officer, Atty. Jargbe Roseline Nagbe-Kowo.

During the visit, Mr. Kaifala shared his experiences with Atty. Kowo and members of the PPCC team about the fight against corruption in his native Sierra Leone.  He narrated that the Anti-corruption Commission of Sierra Leone has made some significant gains in the fight against corruption, which, he said set the basis for accountability and greater transparency in the utilization of public resources. 

Mr. Kaifala challenged the PPCC boss to remain unbending in the execution of her duties as head of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission. He assured Atty. Kowo of his institution’s readiness to help in whatever way possible to make PPCC viable in Liberia.

He was accompanied to the PPCC office by the acting Executive Director of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Moses Kowo.    

In appreciation of Mr. Kaifala’s visit, Atty. Jargbe Roseline Nagbe-Kowo, said she will continue to work with well-meaning institutions and international organizations and partners to end the culture of impunity in public procurement. She promised to fight corruption head-on and institute every legal measure to prevent corruption in public procurement. Atty. Kowo mentioned the ongoing migration to the electronic procurement system and many other new initiatives as part of the measures that have been taken to fight or prevent corruption.   

The PPCC boss thanked Mr. Kaifala for the good work and demonstration of seriousness in the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone.
